Root Position Seventh Chords

If you are an aspiring jazz guitarist you'll need to know these although they are popular in many styles of music. They are written for the chords with roots of G and C. These are moveable shapes and root position so the root note is the lowest note in each chord. Need to learn the names of the notes on the 5th and 6th strings? If so, try this.

G Maj7	G7	G min7
G min7(b5)	G dim7

The root note for the C chords is 3rd fret, 5th string.

C Maj7	C7	C min7
C min7(b5)	C dim7
